Lady Antebellum: Winner of CMA’s Best New Artist Award
WINNER! Lady Antebellum is tonight’s 2008 CMA Awards Winner for Best New Artist! Lady Antebellum won the CMA 2008 Award 2008 tonight for Country Music’s best new act. The group comprises singers Hillary Scott and Charles Kelley and multi-instrumentalist Dave Haywood.
Their reaction: “Thank you, mom. All our moms are sitting there. We love you so much. Our families give such huge support to us.”
Also winning tonight - Rascal Flatts for Best Vocal Group.

Who will be entertainer of the Year? Contenders include other winners so far tonight - George Strait, Sugarland, and now Paisley.
“It’s not supposed to happen like this!” Lady Antebellum’s Dave Haywood proclaimed, taking the stage after hearing their name called for the CMA’s coveted Best New Artist award.
In what some are calling an upset, Lady Antebellum beat out James Otto, Rodney Atkins, Jason Aldean and Kellie Pickler for the honor, formerly called the Horizon Award.
“Thank you so much to the CMA for giving us our first performance tonight on the CMA Awards,” said Hillary Scott.
